Impulse Developments specialise in cylinder heads and are reputed to be the best in the North West and arguably one of the best in the UK. All cylinder head work is carried out in-house. Our knowledge is vast, and as yet we have not found a cylinder head that we have been unable to recondition or gas flow.
Impulse reconditions for petrol, diesel, gas engines, car, motorbikes, light commercials, heavy commercial/industrial, forklift truck, vintage, classic and modern. This also applies to gas flowed heads, so talk to us and we can advise you which head would suit you best.

Reconditioned exchange cylinder heads all have the same machine
work done to them:-

  • Pressure tested and crack tested
  • Refaced head
  • Valves refaced or new valves fitted
  • Valve seats recut with 3 angles on our Serdi millenium
  • Unleaded seat inserts fitted if needed
  • Valve guides checked for wear or new guides fitted
  • Camshaft checked for wear or new fitted
  • Valve stem oil seals replaced
  • Stud holes and spark plug holes checked for damage
  • and helicoiled if needed
  • Valve clearances set if camshaft fitted
  • Heads fully assembled
  • Heads painted

Modified Cylinder heads :-

  • Combustion chambers reshaped and polished for increase power
  • Ports reshaped and polished for better flow
  • Valves reshaped for more performance
  • Valve guides reshaped for better flow
  • Larger competition valves fitted to Stage 3 & 4 heads
  • Performance camshaft fitted if applicable
  • Valve springs fitted for required cam
  • Bronze valve guides fitted for race heads or if requested
  • Light weight competition valve fitted to race heads
  • Fitted valve spring height checked and adjusted if required
  • Combustion chamber CC’s checked and required compression ratio obtained
  • Head modified /gas flowed for customer’s individual requirement
  • Inlet and exhaust manifolds polished and matched to head if required
  • Stage 2 head has std size inlet and exhaust valves
  • Stage 3 head has large inlet valve and std exhaust valve
  • Stage 4 head has large inlet and exhaust valve
  • Group N heads also machined to homologation regs
  • Group A heads gas flowed to homologation regs
  • Pressure tested and crack tested
  • Refaced head
  • Valve seats recut with 3 angles on our Serdi millenium and then blended out for better gas flow
  • Unleaded seat inserts fitted if needed
  • New guides fitted
  • Valve stem oil seals replaced
  • Stud holes and spark plug holes checked for damage and helicoiled if needed
  • Heads fully assembled
  • Heads painted
